New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Salmon River Fishing Report ,Lake Wrap up

By: Troy Creasy

I finished my 2005 Lake Season yesterday on a high note. Dan and Dave joined me for an action packed morning. We hit fish before we had all the lines in the water and it never slowed down. another incredible day on the lake. What a great way to finish up.

The lake continues to produce spectacular catches while the river fishing is less than exciting. Yes, the upper salmon river has fish, but it is a goon-fest of whippers and the hot water, (75 today) makes releasing fish real tough. I see hundreds of dead fish from altmar to 2A today. On top of that they really don't fight very well since the water is so warm. I hear rumors of a weather change. We need rain and a good blow real bad to get more fish into the system. If you are coming up anytime soon, don't waste your time in the mid river. It is barren from Pineville down. There was a small push come through town today, but that was it. If you fly fish and want to stand elbow to asshole, there is a ton of fish in the zone. That just isn't for me or for most of my guests.

I do have this Friday morning open for two people. I can do the lake in my small boat or the river.

See you out there, Troy
