New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
February 18, 2006
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

High winds on the Salmon River

Hoping that the winds would hold off for a few hours we made an honest attempt at getting 15 yr old Robbie his first steelhead. The Salmon River fish gods were not smiling on us and although we did have one short hit on a egg, it was not meant to be. Between trees falling and the boat spinning in circles, we hit the ramp in a blinding snow storm at 10 AM. Day over. Thank you.

Bob and Robbie are coming back and the fish will pay next time. Got home to no power and a big pine tree down in the back yard. No damage though. Took a ride to the lake shore and here is what I saw!

Major Seas! Biggest waves I have seen on this lake. That will stir the pot up.

Saturday 3 degrees and winds to 30 knots. I moved my weekend crews to March.

Good day to tie sacs, spool reels and stay inside. I am out later in the week so I will have another update then.
