Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

High Adventure Fishing Report 7/17/06
Great weather, flat water and good fishing is what many anglers are currently finding on Lake Ontario The kings have been a little a stubborn, but if you work for them you can find a few. The brown trout fishing is still on fire and even the front that went through on saturday didn't completely shut them down.
The thermocline is fnally stting up nice and I would expect to see a big slug of salmon move into the eastern basin any day now.
I am still targeting browns and boy did Jeff and Marie Miller and there good friend Kenny get into them.
We kind of lost count but we are guessing 25 to 30 good trout and about 5 stockies along with one 23 pound king and a big ole sheepshead. Not bad for a morning trip.
Jeff with a nice brown that fell for a green spook Raider.
Jeff & Marie with one of the many doubles we had.
We finished the day with this fat chinook that slammed a mixed vegetable Dreamweaver Super Slim.
Saturday we got chased around by some thunderstorms but my new guests Russ Belles and his daughter Jody and son Todd still managed to pick at the trout for the entire day.
Jody with her first of the day
Todd with a nice 8 pound trout
Jody with another fat bulgy.
There was a lot of boat traffic and I know the storms turned them off a little. We still put a bunch of good ones in the boat along with at least a dozen stockies that are looking fat and healthy. If this is any indication 2007 will be another bang up year for browns.
I am off to Oneida today for my last bass/walleye trip for awhile.
I have openings if you are still looking for a summer fishing charter. I have July 25, 27, 28, 29, 31. August 1, 8, 10, 28, 29 in the morning and a bunch of afternoons.
See you out there, Troy
