New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
November 19, 2006
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

What a spankfest the last two days have been. Eric Markell wasup for his yearly two day trip nd this was one of his best ever!!! We spanked some fish and some fished in return spanked us. That was the story for two full days. Basically there are fish everywhere. A window opens up and a bunch will bite. Then they stop and you move araound and wait them out. Then like a switch you hit four or five in one spot.

I will get some pics up when I get a chance. Egss in white, and pink and hot shots in copper, gold and red scale took most of the bites.

On the Oswego steelhead and browns are dominating the catch, although there are still a few clean kings hanging around. Area driftboat guides have been very successful lately backtrolling Hot- Shots and Rapalas in orange and gold, chartreuse and fire tiger.

Driftfishing has been good with egg sacs in chartreuse, pink and white working well. Fish the edges and current breaks and any soft water where the fish can rest. This will all change too with the high water.
