New York Fishing Report for Lake Ontario and Salmon River

Capt. Troy Creasy
February 15, 2007
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Cold & Windy

Ice fisherman finally have safe ice and now the heavy snow is keeping them from getting to the some of the better spots.

Please use caution when taveling on the ice as the heavy snow can create weak spots.

On Sandy Pond Northern pike are taking large minnows, and walleyes and pan fish are taking spikes and jigs with small minnows

Chaumont Bay Sandy Pond and Black Lake continues to produce perch.

The water level on the Oswego river is a perfect 7,000cfs but ice and slush are still a problem on the colder days, as is access with the deep snow.

Steelhead and brown trout are taking worms, minnows, egg sacs and white bucktail jigs.

On the salmon river the flow is a fantastic 750 cfs Fish egg sacs and small flies in blue and white. Look for the fish to be in the deepest slowest water.

Be sure to log on to our website at www.Lakeontariooutdoors.com where you can see our live salmon river web cam, view our daily fishing reports, catch up on local events, book a lake charter or river guide, and find links to great sites and area businesses.

Remember to be stay safe and stay warm,

This is Captain Troy Creasy Good Day.
