Salmon River, Oswego River Fishing Report

Capt. Troy Creasy
February 20, 2009
Salmon River - Freshwater Fishing Report

Well for those who thought that Winter might be behind us; Guess Again. Welcome to my world. As we approach our 5th month of heavy snow cover, 30 mph winds, artic cold and driving snow is still the norm.
I have been out shoveling and the weather calls for another foot or more today & tomorrow. I am so ready for spring.

Dave, his son Rob and lovely wife Debbie came into town and wanted to make a short late day run. After finally finding a place to fish, (Wow. Lot's of people) we were right into them. Dave hooked up the first few and Rob then followed suit.
Debbie watched patiently and cheered the guys on. Then the wind and driving snow chased us to the ramp early.

Frank & Jim had planned on fishing two days, but after yesterdays wind and a mediocre bite, we put day two off a week. I wise decision.

The consistent fishing continues but weather changes wind and incredible fishing pressure makes every day different.
Same thing, same spots. Egg sacs, flies, worms and beads. Blue, white and some pink.
Pound away and you get a few.

Same thing on the Oswego river. The water is dropping and the fishing thee is excellent. Steelhead up top and browns in the harbor. Eggs and jigs under floats and bottom bouncing flies and eggs are working the best.

I am so ready for Spring. Oh, I already said that.

Just had April 18, 20, 21 open up. It should be warm by then.
