Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

September 8, 2004
Hi Folks,
Yes it's been quite a while since my last report. Between Charley and Frances I took a short vacation to the northeast...nice and cool. Despite the waters around here being churned up a bit, fishing has been good. And with fall just around the corner everything should take off great for super fishing the next 3 months.
On another note, I will changing internet service this week and will be out of commission briefly. As soon as everything is up and running I will notify you of my new email address. Although I expect to be back in full swing by next week, in the meantime, please keep checking my web page for updates, and if you need to contact me please feel free to call me at 910-799-6120..
Now here's my report:
Inshore: Good catches of flounder and red drum at the inlets and the waterway docks are being reported. Easiest bait to catch right now are finger mullet that are just streaming down the waterway.
Nearshore: Some cobia are still hanging around. Spanish mackerel are here when seas have been calm enough to get to them.
Offshore: Reports are sketchy, but kings are biting from 3 -30 miles and some mahi are still around, although they should be heading back to the stream soon.
Gulfstream: The action here is picking up. Good catches of wahoo and tuna are being reported with an occassional bill fish added to the mix.
Don't miss this week's pic of the week: http://www.rodmancharters.com
I'll have a more complete report, hopefully early next week. Until then,
Let's Go Fishing!!!
