Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Week Ending September 15, 2004
Hi Folks,
Well it seems like this weeks fishing report is more about weather than fishing. But despite the weather we have had some interesting fishing at times this past week. Hopefully these storms and rain and wind will clear out of here soon and we can focus on some good fall fishing.
Now here's my report: September 15, 2004
Inshore: Waters are still murky from all the rain. But there are still reds biting at the jetties and in the waterway...you just have to be there at the right time and here lately that is harder to predict. Some flounder are around at the same places...remember, where you fish for reds, you can also catch flounder AND trout. Best baits right now are menhaden first and finger mullet second.
Nearshore: Waters have been too rough for me to fish past the jetties, but I have heard reports of gray trout showing up. Still some cobia hanging around too. A few spanish have been caught, but not sure with the weather how much longer that will be.
Offshore: No report due to high seas.
Gulfstream: No report due to high seas.
On another note, I will be holding the first annual Rod-Man Inshore Fishing School this winter on March 5, 2005. This one day school will cover every subject important to the inshore fisherman. There will be exciting and knowledgeable guest speakers. Continental breakfast and lunch will be included. Look for more information coming soon on my website and in your newsletter.
