Hi Folks,
Fishing is good but has hit that slight lull where the fish are acclimating to the warmer water temperature that have finally arrived. It usually lasts just a day of two and then things are equalized and action is back to normal. We have had a good week of fishing, with most of the action being with spanish and king mackerel.
Inshore: Flounder fishing is picking up. Best fishing is with live bait near the inlets. A carolina rig and a live menhaden will do the trick. Puppy drum are cooperating nicely from the inlets to the waterway and creeks.
Nearshore: Plenty of spanish are around and also small kings. Be sure not to get them confused. Kings need to be 24" fork length and spanish 12" fork length. We are still having good luck with the Yozuri Deep Divers. Bluefish lovers will have no trouble loading the cooler. Cobia are hanging around the nearshore reefs and the inlets.
Offshore: Good bites of king macks have been found in the 10 to 18 mile areas. The mahi have not moved in yet, but that should happen any day.
Gulfstream: Mahi are biting strong along with some wahoo. A few yellowfin are being caught too.
Vacation season is here which means a lot more boat traffic. Take a few extra minutes to be safe and considerate of your fellow boaters. It will make your day a better one.
