Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Rod-Man Report July 13, 2006
Rod-Man report July 13, 2006:
Hi Folks,
It is hot and most of the fishing is hot too. We are catching spanish macks, flounder, reds and more.
Now here's my report:
Inshore: Redfish are biting well. Live or chunk menhaden or finger mullet are working best...fished on carolina rigs around waterway and creek docks, inlets and oyster beds. Flounder are biting well also on live bait. The inlets, waterway, Snow's Cut and river are producing most of the action.
Nearshore: Lots of good action on flounder at the nearshore artificial reefs. Barracuda are providing some fun as well. Spanish mackerel have been biting well. We had one day when we boated 41.
Offshore: From 15 to 25 miles out the kings and mahi have been on fire. Live bait or dead bait, fast trolling or slow, the bite has been very good.
Gulfstream: With the heat, the stream fishing has slowed a bit. Mahi are the main attractants.
Lots of exciting news about my upcoming fishing schools will be coming out soon. And of course great fall fishing is just around the corner. We had a great speck season last year and we are looking for the same this year.
