Wrightsville Beach - Saltwater Fishing Report

Reel Adventure REDFISH 3/5/06
After being extremely busy building fishing rods it was nice to get back out on the water. We ran down near Southport and fished the flats looking for redfish. When the wind and boat pressure let up the fish definately cooperated! We had a few spit the hook, one break off and got a nice one to the boat. It measured 26 inches and was caught on a white Berkley Gulp! jerkbait and a Falcon weighted hook on a falling tide. We saw many large schools of fish in the grass hunting for food, but they were very spooky. The water temp was between 50-54 degrees and should continue to rise as long was we dont have too many cold nights. The fish are there, but sucess this time of year is very dependant on the weather. Pick a nice day, tie on a Gulp! and go get em!
King Mackerel fishing is right around the corner! The dates are starting to book up! Give us a call for some early season kings. We target these smaller kings with medium to ultra light spinning gear. Ever caught a 8 lb king on a trout rod?? Lets go!
