On The Move

Capt. Cory Godell
September 17, 2016
Bend - Freshwater Fishing Report

Deschutes
For the past two or three weeks the steelhead fishing has definitely been up and down. The number of steelhead in the Deschutes seems to be a bit down, which is likely due to the hot, dry summer we've been having. However, with the cooler than average days and nights that are currently hitting us the water temps on the Deschutes are dropping and the steelhead are on the move again. There is a big slug of steelhead coming over The Dalles Dam (which is on the Columbia River) and a lot of them should be poking their noses into the Deschutes anytime. This should make for some exciting steelhead fishing for the next couple months.

Trout
If steelheading isn't your game, our trout season is far from over. As of this year the entire Lower Deschutes is now open year around.
