That's a Wrap

Capt. Cory Godell

Bend - Freshwater Fishing Report

Deschutes River

The big bugs have come and gone for another season. Due to the hot, dry spring we had the Salmon Flies showed up earlier than they had ever shown up before. Even though the hatch came off super early, it was another great salmon fly season.

Now that the Salmon Fly season is over, the caddis season is cranking up quick. With the hot weather we are having the caddis number are going through the roof. If you are a person who likes hunting for Deschutes Redsides, now is the time. Since the caddis are much smaller than the Salmon flies the trout have to eat lots more of them. And to top it off there's hardly a soul on the river fishing for the trout right now.

Don't forget summer steelhead season is just around the corner.

See you on the river
