Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report
After the passing of hurricane ALMA, and all the rain that she dropped on us, the BIG yellowfin Tuna have come alive, feasting on the vast schools of bait that are moving closer to shore every day.
A week ago, everything was 'dead', and all the fish were out 50 or 60 miles. Plus we had waves out there up to 10 meters high. Three commercial boats sunk in the storm. Now the action has moved closer, the weather has turned sunny and the seas calm, and the cool rains have also sparked a WAHOO bite that has a lot of boats coming in with hefty catches.
DORADO are concentrated just outside Punta Burica and moving up towards the GOLFITO, COSTA RICA area. We'll be there to meet them!
Looking forward to the coming BLACK MARLIN bite in August / September, but in the meantime, grilled tuna steaks, sashimi, and fresh tuna salads will have to suffice.
Boca Chica Fishing Forecast:
Tuna and dorado should stay around for quite a spell, given the huge amounts of bait outside.
BLACK MARLIN will be coming by in Aug./Sept.
Corvina and snapper action will continue excellent inshore.
Target Species:
yellowfin tuna, black marlin, corvina, snapper, roosterfish
