Inshore-Bottom HOT !!

Capt. Bob Baker
May 11, 2009
Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report

We had some great action in the estuary heading down to Boca Brava this past week.

After cast-netting a baitwell full of sardinaīs, we anchored up in different spots, depending on the tides force, and were rewarded with some very nice catches of corvina, snapper, and a big gag grouper pulled out of the big hole at Boca Brava during the high ebb. Thatīs really the only time itīs safe to anchor there. When the tide starts to really run, we head just inside the boca to a group of rocks that always seems to hold some nice snappers.

Slow trolling rigged blue runners around the west side of ISLAS PARIDAS produced a few very nice roosterfish. We were also rewarded with a beauty of a cubera snapper, casting poppers into shoreland rocks and over nearshore reefs. Fantastic strike!

We have charters for offshore for the coming week, so make sure you stop by for the re-run.

Good Fishing, Wherever you are !! Capn Bob
