Wahoo, Yellowfin Action Heating Up

Boca Chica - Saltwater Fishing Report
Some very nice wahoo are being taken around the reefs surrounding Isla Ladrones and Islas Secas.
We trolled jet-head lures in blue/white and purple/silver, and big rapala's(fire tiger worked really well with purple a close second.)
We took 5 wahoo to 50 lbs. on the jetheads , while smaller, 30's and 40's, seemed to prefer the rapala's.
Taking a course from Secas to Ladrones, we ran into porpoise and stayed in the area until they got hot. We caught a lot of bonito and skipjack while waiting ,but were rewarded with some nice yellowfin tuna in the 10-30 lb. range.
Tried some deep jigging to see if we could snag a big mama underneath the surface action, but only had one on, a very big fish that pulled the hook, and then the school went down.
Also threw poppers into the midst of the hot dolphins, and managed two tunas in the 20 lb. class.
Thought sure there would be a marlin around, so we spent a couple of hours slow-trolling rigged bonito and tuna, hoping for that big bite, but instead took a 45 lb. cubera snapper while approaching "Bajo Ocho" outside Ladrones. Nice trophy.
With afternoon rains approaching over the mountains, we headed into Boca Chica after a great day and many , many memories of a great day fishing.
Boca Chica Fishing Forecast:
Things will only continue to improve around Islas Ladrones, Montuosa, Secas, Contreras, and of course, The Hannibal Bank.
More black marlin will come in as the temp. of the water cools, along with more , and bigger wahoo.
All inshore angling will improve, especially corvina and snapper catches.
Target Species:
WAHOO, YELLOWFIN TUNA, MARLIN, SNAPPER
