Bull Reds coming into Port Royal Sound

Capt. Rick Percy
September 10, 2014
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

We have been doing fairly well the last several weeks on inshore flats and creeks on the Redfish. One nice thing is the number of under slot Reds that are showing now as they leave the marshes where they have spent the first year of their lives. I have been catching more of them in good numbers than I can remember for several years. And they are our future for the next 4 years or so and really good to see. Slot and above fish have also been readily available. And the big news is that the Bull Redfish, the mature spawners, will start to show in the Sound and other select inshore areas in the next couple of weeks. These fish come in from the ocean to spawn, and most run in the 20 to 40 lb range. Clients love catching and releasing them. And so do I!!!
