Trout beginning to show in Broad River

Capt. Rick Percy
September 12, 2011
Beaufort - Saltwater Fishing Report

After what was thought to be a devastating cold winter on our Sea Trout population, we are starting to catch a few. My charter on Friday, the 9th, and today, the 12th, both had trout in the bag. These fish are mostly under 14 inches, but we are really happy to see them show up. The Redfish bite continues to be good in the Broad. In normal years October and November are our best trout months, so hopefully we will start to see some bigger fish here shortly. Live shrimp are always good for trout, but we can do very well throwing soft plastic baits to them also.

Beaufort Fishing Forecast:

Redfish, and hopefully Sea Trout, will just get better as the water temps continue to fall over the next several weeks.
