Charleston - Saltwater Fishing Report
On a few trips this past week, the days were spent sight-fishing to schools of cruising redfish pitching a Gulp shrimp or live shrimp. The fish are still adjusting to the water temps and seem to be feeding aggressively in the middle of the day when the water is at its warmest. We have had most of our success on the falling and low tides this week.
Poling into a bay and seeing large numbers of schooled up redfish on the mud flats is very common this time of year here in Charleston. If you are stealthy, you can catch them using a variety of methods, just like the live shrimp or plastics, the fly is AN EXCELLENT option for these schooled up redfish, they will sometimes take the fly out of reactionary competition with the other fish in the school.
The weather in SC feels like spring, with record highs topping the 80's. The next week should have great weather for targeting these fish. Call Captain Mike at 843-606-2827 to book your Charleston fishing trip! You can also visit us on the web at www.hotfishcharleston.com.
