Chilly Water Catfish

Capt. Darryl Smith
January 26, 2009
Santee - Freshwater Fishing Report

We are finally getting our cold water for the winter. Water temps have made it into the lower 40's. This has put the Catfish near the riverbeds, or deep hole underneath the baitfish. We are still using cut shad for bait. We have been catching a lot of 20-50 lb fish drift fishing, and anchoring down and bottom fishing as well. Now is the time to fish the Santee Cooper System. Here is the pciture of a 96.4 lb blue catfish caught while we where filming the TV Show "What A Catch"
