Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE

LARGEMOUTH fair to good all day (under clouds) along chunk rock banks with wood in 2'-8' early on 1/4 oz. silver/green Terminator buzzbaits, white 1/8 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits & Shootin'Shad plastic jerkbaits. During high, less cloudy skies work 1/8 oz. white Curb's bucktails with matching plastic trailers, shad Frenzy crankbaits or Ice Tea Creme Super Tubes on banks and points with boulder rock. SMALLMOUTH fair to good on brown Curb's hair jigs, crawdad Super Tubes and Kapalia pumpkin/copper flake twin tail grubs. STRIPERS improving at midlake drifting live bait in 30'-40' and working white or chartreuse Curb's striper jigs or Horizon Pirk Minnows. Also, some sparotic topwater action on Rat-L-Traps, white Curb's bucktail jigs & trailers and Berkley topwater walkers or Spooks. Our clients are most successful under cloudy/rainy conditions. LAKE LBJ

LARGEMOUTH good to 8 lbs. in 3'-6' early on Shootin' Shad plastic jerkbaits, Creme Lit'l Fishie Shads and 1/8 or 1/4 oz. silver Terminator buzzbaits or white spinnerbaits. Later work brushpiles in creek channels in 8'-12'with Ice Tea or Elec. Blue Creme Scoundrel worms or their Super Tubes. Good fish are on submerged rock points & humps taking 1/4 oz. watermelon Curb's bass jigs with Jig Claw trailers or shad patterned Fat Free Shad. STRIPERS are active in "the shoals" below Inks Dam and in the mouth of creeks in the main lake on white Curb's bucktails, Shad Raps and Rat-L-Traps. WHITE BASS topwater action is fair to good on 1/8 oz. Spin Traps & Horizon Pirk Minnows. Crappie very good on deep brushpiles in 12'-20' on Curb's crappie jigs, Creme Tiny Tubes and live minnows. Yellow Catfish to 20 lbs. are coming on trotlines.
