Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake, TX.

The lake conditions are absolutely perfect and the primary species are all cooperating. Water slightly stained, 58 degrees, 914+ feet (normal elevation is 909') We are catching both largemouth and smallmouth in 4'- 8' along chunk rock banklines just outside of flooded willow and buck brush using Ice Tea colored Devil's Tongues (by Creme Lure Co.) on split shot, Carolina or drop shot rigs; pumpkin spider grubs, chartreuse/pepper Creme Super Tubes, white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits and chrome/blue back 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps. About noon the bite slows down. Locate a submerged stump field in 8'-15', preferably on the end of a sloping point. Work a Devil's Tongue or medium running crankbait.
