Report for Canyon Lake & Lake LBJ, Texas

Capt. Jim Files
December 14, 2000
Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake

Lake and river conditions are ideal. We're taking some largemouth (4+) and smallouth to 4 lb. in the main lake. Largemouth up to 7 lb. are coming upriver. We're working rock piles and stumps on ledges and breaklines in 8'to 12' on secondary points of the larger creeks using white/char. Terminator spinnerbaits, Baby Bass Rat-L-Traps and Creme Super Tubes. Smallmouth are holding on rock jetties in 5'-10'. For them we're using smaller (1/8 oz.) white Terminator spinnerbaits and 1/4 oz. chrome 'Traps or chartreuse/pepper Creme Super Tubes and the new 1/4 oz. Terminator jig. White bass are congregating over 20' of water inside of secondary points in the back of creeks and the Cranes Mill area. Horizon Pirk Minnows, #1 Terminator In-Line spinners and white bucktails are all producing. We anticipate the white bass "run" to begin about mid January with fish moving into the mouth of the Guadalupe.
