Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE, Texas
LARGEMOUTH are showing some inclination to move out of the 12'- to 15' zone and begin to feed in preparation
for the spawn. Crawfish are the #1 item on their menu right now so slow moving, crawfish imitating lures are our choices. 1/4 oz. pumpkin Terminator jigs, 1/8 oz. pumpkin/chartreuse Curb's jigs, Creme Lure's new Devil's Tongues and amber 3" Super Tubes will all work
when fish along steep chunk rock banklines or down the edge of gravel flats with rock piles. SMALLMOUTH are beginning their spawn right now. Look for them in 6'-10' rocky flats and along submerged jetties . Try chartreuse or Ice Tea Devil's Tongues on split shot rigs, chartreuse/pepper 3" Super Tubes, small crawfish crankbaits or the new 1/8 oz. white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits since smallies are not showing
any hesitation to hit moving baits. WHITE BASS action is really picking up with lots of 10" to 16" males are being taken in 20'-35' along main channels using 2" Creme Lit'l Fishie Shads and Horizon Pirk Minnows. Females are still 10 days or two weeks away from joining the males in the shallower Guadalupe River when #3 & #5 Terminator In-Line spinner will be a top producer all the way to the rapids above Rebbecca Creek.
