Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN
LARGEMOUTH and SPOTTED BASS are spawning right now. Since we make it a practice not to fish over bedding bass we are working water from 4'-8' deep in pockets and coves off of creeks using plastic jerkbaits, 4" &
6" Ice Tea and watermelon Scoundrel worms and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads. STRIPERS are feeding just above main channel breaklines then returning to 16'-26'. Drifting live bait and trolling Curb's striper jigs, vertically
jigging with Horizon Pirk Minnows or white bucktails or targeting shallow feeding fish with chrome 'Traps is most productive.
CANYON LAKE
LARGEMOUTH, STRIPERS AND WHITE BASS are running secondary creek channels in 4'-8'; over stump flats
in 3'-5' and along breaklines of gravel flats in 8' of water. Our most productive lures are 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, plastic jerkbaits and chameleon Scoundrel worms
on wacky rigs. SMALLMOUTH are still cooperating fairly
shallow in water 6'-10' deep over rock piles on Devil's Tongues, chartreuse 3" Super Tubes and 1/8 oz. chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits.
LAKE LBJ
The spawn is in progress. However, since we do not target bedding bass our clients are taking most of their fish in 3'-6' of water from rocky rip rip and along the outside edges of weed beds using plastic jerkbaits, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and Creme Lure's Scoundrel worms on wacky rigs. Upriver there is a 'sometimes' spinnerbait bite along boat docks.
