Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE LBJ
Fishing is VERY good on LBJ, IF you are willing to be on the water between midnight & 9:00 AM. Our biggest largemouth are being caught working Terminator buzzbaits & noisy, prop-type Topwaters like a Rat-L-Top
over points, down creek channels and flats. At sunup switch colors to Golden Shiner Terminators, croaker 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, plastic jerkbaits & Chameleon or watermelon/red Scoundrel worms and work boat docks with breaklines of 8'-12'. After midmorning begin skipping 4" Disc Worms or 3" Super Tubes under boat docks because that's the only place with any shade for bass. Also at night, our clients are boating 20-40 blacks, white bass & crappie with an occassional striper or catfish thrown in using white Curb's crappie jigs & 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads. CANYON LAKE
Very early (before daylight) we're catching largemouth on flats in 5'-12' of water on 1/8 oz. "Tiny-T" buzzbaits, poppers or pro type towaters and slowrolling
a black, single blade Terminator spinnerbait through the tops of trees on deep bluffs. After daylight target secondary points with Carolina rigged 4" Disc Lizards and shaded bluffs using Devil's Tongues on split shot rigs in 15'-25'. Upriver, flip and pitch wacky rigged Scoundrel worms and watermelon/red spider grubs to laydown and timber along 12' channel breaks.
