Report for Canyon Lake & Lake LBJ, Texas

Capt. Jim Files
July 13, 2001
Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE

On Tuesday, July 10, 2001 a largemouth bass weighing 11.61 lbs. was caught and submitted to the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for certification a a new lake record. That process is ongoing, but should be completed shortly.

The day before, Monday, July 9, my client Bruce Stiles, of Austin, Texas hooked and boated his lifetime personal best largemouth; 9+ lbs. Both of these fish came from the same general area, off of a 12' ledge next to a 20' channel. Stiles fish came on a wacky rigged Ice Tea Scoundrel worm (Creme Lure Co. at www.cremelure.com). Although our clients have been catching more and consistently larger fish this year, Stiles' catch, and of course the 11.61, should be considered exceptional and very praise worthy.
