Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN
Water clear; 82 degrees; 1014': LARGEMOUTH are good early and late along flats, sloping points and ledges in Morgan and Beaver Creeks. Brush piles and rocky points like Maxwells and coves in the lower end near the dam are also producing.
1/8 and 1/4 oz. silver Terminator buzzbaits, Yozuri poppers and plastic jerkbaits early. White Terminator buzzbaits and Rat-L-Traps are good as the sun comes up
worked in 4'-10' of water in these areas. Later, slow down with soft plastics such as a shad colored 4" Super Tube (www.cremelure.com), junebug 4" Disc Worms
(by Big Bite Baits www.bigbitebaits.com) & watermelon 1/8 oz. Terminator jigs with Disc Craw trailers fished in brush piles will all produce.
STRIPERS are good to 30" over 24' humps in 40' of water from Flag Island to the dam drifting live perch or vertically jigging Pirk Minnows and Curb's striper jigs.

LAKE LBJ
Water clear; 81 degrees; 824.95': LARGEMOUTH are good early along flats, stumpy or rocky points and boat docks using silver/blue Terminator spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps and wacky rigged Scoundrel worms or shad colored 4" Super Tubes skipped under docks. Red shad 4" Disc Worms worked in 12' brushpiles are also producing as are 1/4 oz. Terminator jigs with Disc Craw trailers.
WHITE BASS and STRIPERS remain good from 3:00 AM until daylight on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, white Curb's crappie jigs and Spin Traps.
CRAPPIE are good in 12' brushpiles on Curb''s crappie jigs and live minnows.

CANYON LAKE
WATER CLEAR LOWER-MURKY UPPER; 82 degrees; 910': LARGEMOUTH are fair to good with some schooling activity along 12' breaklines. For this, we're using 1/8 oz. white or silver (Terminator) Tiny-T spinnerbaits.
Over flats in 3'-8' early try white or white/char. Terminator buzzbaits, Yozuri poppers or wacky rigged Scoundrel worms.
Later, soft plastics and jigs remain productive. 4" Disc Worms, crawdad 4" Super Tubes and Terminator jigs with Disc Craw trailers will produce.
ALL OTHER SPECIES SLOW.

CHOKE CANYON RES.
Water stained; 84 degrees; Largemouth are good early along flats and sloping points on white Terminator buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps and Pop R's and plastic jerkbaits. Try 4 Fingers and the dam using crankbaits. The thick grass beds and brushpiles are producing some quality fish on Terminator jigs and 6" chart/pepper, pumpkin/chartreuse, watermelon candy or junebug Disc Lizards on Carolina rigs.
Mason and Greyhound Points are holding fish to 6 lbs. where a Terminator spinnerbait or Terminator jig with Disc Craw trailer or wacky rigged Scoundrel worm will produce.
The south Texas region of Couples Assoc. of Sport Tournaments will host the yearly C.A.S.T. Classic on this lake Sept. 14-16.
