Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN

LARGEMOUTH are good under cloud cover along 3'-6' flats, ledges and creeks using silver Terminator buzzbaits and spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps and/or shallow running crankbaits. If that bite slows try working just over the nearest breakline with a shad or crawfish 4" Super Tube (www.cremelure.com), 4" junebug Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com)or Devil's Tongue on split shot rigs. In pockets between Black Rock and the dam with water up to 8' work a watermelon/red Scoundrel worm on a wacky rig or Terminator jigs with a Disc Craw trailer.

STRIPERS are fair to good from Flag and Garrett Island to the dam drifiting live bait over 24' humps in 40'-50' of water and casting or jigging Pirk Minnows through school activity.

Terminator buzzbaits and spinnerbaits and plastic jerkbaits especially in and across flats running through stickups and timber. Rat-L-Traps and shallow-running crankbaits are producing along ledges as are wacky rigged Scoundrel worms, Devil's Tongues and 4" Disc Worms.

SMALLMOUTH are fair to good in pockets from midlake to the dam along drop-off points and breaklines from 6'-14' on smoke or crawfish 4" Super Heavy Tubes (www.cremelure.com)
