Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE
Water stained-Clear; 76 degrees; 909': LARGEMOUTH are good along 6'-10' ledges in creeks and pockets using 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps, 1/4 oz. blue/green/silver Terminator spinnerbaits and crankbaits. Some quality fish coming on topwaters such as Spit N Image and a white 1/8 oz. Tiny Buzz worked along chunk rock banks.
The mouth of secondary feeder creeks is a good spot to pitch a new 4" Super Tube Heavy (by Creme Lure Co.), watermelonseed 4" Disc Worm or 1/4 oz. watermelon/pump.
Terminator jig with Disc Craw trailer. Fish are moving tight to cover of standing timber in channels under clear skies.
SMALLMOUTH are slowly migrating toward deep water points of creeks and holding around rock piles. A smoke/red Super Tube, smoke/blue flake twin tail grub or split shot rigged Devil's Tongues will produce.
STRIPER and WHITE BASS have finally made their appearance along deep water lake points and bluffs in 24'-40' with good topwater activity occuring periodically throughout the day. STRIPERS are fair in the 18"-24" range on the surface using Zara Spooks,
'Traps and white Curb's bucktails with plastic trainers. When they sound, vertically jigging a Pitk Minnow will take more fish. For WHITE BASS a 2" Lit'l Fishie Shad and 1/4 oz. silver or blue Pirk Minnow will
work.
