Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN

Water clear; 70 degrees; 1014': LARGEMOUTH are very good in 4'-10' of water along long sloping points and flats near deeper channels using white Terminator spinnerbaits, Rat-L-Traps, Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs and crankbaits. Pitching a 3/16 oz. pumpkin/pepper Terminator Finesse Jig with Disc Craw trailers (www.bigbitebaits.com), a watermelon/pumpkin 4" Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) to docks or crawling a pumpkin Devil's Tongue on a split shot rig down ledges is very good in deeper secondary creeks.

STRIPERS are good drifting live bait or trolling 1/2 oz. Curb's striper jigs in 18'-20' Topwater action using threadfin Berkley walkers 1/4 oz. white Cur's bucktails or jigging Pirk Minnows is good in school activity.

CANYON LAKE

Water clear; 70 degrees; 909': LARGEMOUTH are very good to 7 lbs. along 8'-14' breaklines and in secondary creeks in 4'-9'.White Terminator spinnerbaits parrott or threadfin Berkley crankbaits and plastic jerkbaits are all productive.

Schooling action is good using 1/8 oz. white or silver Tiny-T spinnerbaits or 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads.

Try pitching a crawdad 4" Super Tube Heavy or 3/8 oz. watermelon Terminator Finesse Jig with Disc Craw trailer to rock piles and submerged brushpiles in 12'-14'.

SMALLMOUTH are good in 6'-14'. Target rock piles and submerged treelines along these breaklines with a smoke Super Tube, Curb's hair jig and smoke twin tail grubs. In the morning try working flats above this area with a chartreuse 1/8 oz. Tiny-T spinnerbait, 4" plastic jerkbaits or very shallow running crankbaits.

STRIPER and WHITE BASS are schooling along deep water points and bluffs in 20'-40'. Topwater action is on threadfin Berkley Walkers or Pencil Poppers. Vertically jigging Pirk Minnows or Curb's striper jigs is producing fish in the 20"-26" range.

Water stained; 69 degrees; 824.96': LARGEMOUTH are good on an all day bite on points, creek channel flats and 8'-14' breaklines on crankbaits, 4" Disc Worms and pitching a watermelon 4" Super Tube Heavy or Terminator Finnesse Jig to boat docks.

Rat-L-Traps and plastic jerkbaits are producing on sloping creek points at midday as bass move shallow.
