Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE

Water clear; 54 degrees; 909':

LARGEMOUTH are fair to good upriver in 3'-8' of water using Texas Red Terminator spinnerbaits, 4" chartreuse Disc Lizards (www.bigbitebaits.com) and 1/4 oz. crawfish 'Traps. In the main lake, target secondary creek points and breaklines of flats with a gray/blue flake SlidingWeight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com), a 4" Super Tube Heavy and wacky rigged Scoundrel worms.

SMALLMOUTH are fair to good along breaklines of gravel points and flats in 8'-15' on chartreuse Tiny-T spinnerbaits, 3" crawfish or chartreuse Super Tubes or split shot rigged Devil's Tongues.

WHITE BASS AND STRIPERS are fair to good day-to-day, mainly in 30' of water on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows. Upriver, mostly undersized males are coming on No. 3 Terminator In-Line Spinners, Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

LAKE LBJ

Water clear, 57 degrees, 824.33':

LARGEMOUTH are good in 4'-8' along creek channels and points on 3/16 oz. Terminator Finesse Jigs, 5" Disc Lizards (www.bigbitebaits.com), chartreuse/brown Spider Grubs on a slow presentation. Crawfish 3" Super Tubes and Devil's Tongues worked along rip rap on points and seawalls is producing.

WHITE BASS are good on the intacke side of the power plant on 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads.

CRAPPIE are improving in 6'-12' over brushpiles on Curb's crappie jigs, red/white Solid Tubes (Creme Lures www.cremelure.com) and minnows.

LARGEMOUTH are good inside of secondary points and breaklines of flats using Red 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, watermelon/red 4" SlidingWeight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) and 4" chartreuse Disc Lizards (www.bigbitebaits.com)

STRIPERS are very good from The Willows up lake on live bait, trolling 1/2 oz. Curb's Striper Jigs but most productive jigging Pirk Minnows and Lit'l Fishie Shads.

WHITE BASS improving at the mouth of major creeks vertically jigging 1/4 oz. silver or blue Pirk Minnows, Lit'l Fishie Shads and Tiny-Traps.

Crappie slow on minnows.
