Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Lake Buchanan

Water clear; 70 degrees; 1016.40':

LARGEMOUTH are good over flats and points in 3'-5' using white 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits, clear 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Top topwaters, watermelon Scoundrel worms on Whacky rigs along stumps and laydowns. Try dragging a 4" watermelon/red SlidingWeight Craw Fish or Spider Grub or chartreuse/pepper BBB Disc Worm down ledges inside of secondary creeks.

STRIPERS are fair to good drifting live perch or shad and trolling 1/2 oz. white/chartreuse Curb's striper jigs and plastic trailers in 18'-30'. Some limited topwater action very early on Rat-L-Traps, SpitFire and Red Fins.

CANYON LAKE

Water clear; 74 degrees; 909.47':

LARGEMOUTH are good early over 8' of water using Pop R's , 1/4 oz. Blue Shad Terminator spinnerbaits and Rat-L-Traps. Some good fish coming on Citrus Shad crankbaits, a Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs and chartreuse/pepper 4" Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com). The river is producing some quality fish pitching a watermelon 4" Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) and plastic jerkbaits.

SMALLMOUTH are fair pitching 3" smoke Super Tubes, chart. Tiny-T spinnerbaits (www,terminatorlures.com) and rootbeer twin tail grubs. Working a watermelon/grn Spider Grub, gray/blue 4" SlidingWeight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) down breaklines in 12'-20'

STRIPERS are fair over humps at mid-lake on live perch and rolling white Curb's striper jigs and plastic trailers.

WHITE BASS are very good on main lake points using 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and No. 1 Terminator In-Line spinners.

CRAPPIE are good upriver along trees in 12' on white 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.

LAKE LBJ

Water stained; 71 degrees; 824.90':

BLACK BASS are fair to good on white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits, firetiger Bomber A's and 4" pumpkin/pepper BBB Disc Worms. 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps, 1/8 oz. white Tiny-T spinnerbaits and Ice Tea Scoundrel worms on Whacky worms will produce in the lower end.

STRIPER are fair below Inks Dam on live shad, Rat-L-Traps and silver ghost Spooks.

WHITE BASS are fair early and late in 12 feet trolling shad raps,casting Spin Traps and white grubs.

CRAPPIE are very good in creeks and under docks on 1/32 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs, red/white Tube Jigs and minnows.
