Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 82 degrees; 908.97' LARGEMOUTH are fair to good in 10'-15' feet of water using firetiger or shad Bomber A or Rebel Deep Wee R, 1/4 oz. white Terminator spinnerbaits and chart/pepper 4" BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) all worked through standing submerged timber. Early morning topwater bite on small Pop R's or Yourzis and white plastic jerkbaits worked along bluffs and over long points. Upriver, target stumps and overhanging trees along breaklines of channel using Ice Tea or watermelon Scoundrel Whacky worms, or 4" chartreuse BBB Disc or curl tail worms.

SMALLMOUTH fair to good over 12'-20' on Devil's Tongues,3" smoke Super Tubes, BBB grubs and Tiny-T spinnerbaits. Try a clear topwater or plactic jerkbaits over 8'-12' right at daylight.

STRIPERS are fair drifting live bait over humps near the dam and along main lake bluffs. Early morning topwater bite on Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com) and Zara Spooks.

LAKE LBJ

Water stained; 80 degrees; 824.66'

BLACK BASS are fair along creek points very early on white 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits, topwater poppers and watermelon Scremer worms(www.cremelure.com). Skipping a whacky rigged Scoundrel worm, watermelon Tiny-T jigs and shallow running Warts under docks and dragging an watermelon Devil's Tongue along rip rap is producing.

STRIPERS are good but undersized at night on 2" Lit' Fishie Shads and white Curb's jigs.

WHITE BASS are very good at night under lights using white or chartreuse 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and Lit'l Fishies.

CRAPPIE are good at night along boat docks with brushpiles on Curb's crappie jigs, Mini Tails and minnows.

Water clear; 81 degrees; 1016.05':

LARGEMOUTH are good along bluff ledges in 12'-15' on Shad crankbaits, Blue Shad 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits and Pro Blue 4" Disc Worms. Early morning topwater action is good on chrome or clear poppers. Later, work brushpiles and stumps and ledges in 5'-12' with Ice Tea Scoundrel worms on Whacky rigs (www.cremelure.com) or Smokin' Green Devil's

Tongues and watermelon Terminator Finesse Jigs

(www.terminatorlures.com) with pumpkin green BBB grub trailers (www.bigbitebaits.com).

STRIPERS are fair in 40' drifting live bait or trolling Curb's striper jigs over humps . Topwater action early and late using Rat-L-Traps and Spit Fire topwaters.
