Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

Canyon Lake

Water clear; 81 degrees; 909.08' LARGEMOUTH are good very early in 2'-6' of water on white 1/8 or 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), chrome Pop R's, and firetiger Bomber A's. Later, switch to split shot rigging a pumpkin or Smokin' Green Devil's Tongue (www.cremelure.com)and 4" Pumpkin BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) and working them along bluff banklines in 12'-20'.

SMALLMOUTH are good in 10'-20' using a pumpkin Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) or 3" smoke Super Tubes on split shot rigs and 3" BBB grubs.

STRIPERS are fair drifting live bait in 40' over humps and along treelines along bluffs. Early topwater action on Rat-L-Traps and Zara Spooks.

WHITE BASS fair early along lake points on clear Rat-L-Tops, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and minnows.

CRAPPIE to 14" are usually good tight to trees on chartreuse Mini Tails, Curb's crappie jigs. Use minnows to locate the fish in trees and then change to artificals for more and larger fish.

Lake LBJ

Water stained; 80 degrees; 824.92'

BLACK BASS are fair very early on silver 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits, topwaters and pitching a 4" watermelon/pumpkin Super Tube Heavy to boat docks. Drag a Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) or BBB Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com) on the end of long points in 15' of water has been producing. Crankbaits like a Chart. Shad Wart Hawg worked along in 6'-10' just off of rip rap is also a taking fish.

STRIPERS are fair at night on 2" Lit' Fishie Shads and white Curb's jigs and live bait. Early topwater bite with larger fish on Rat-L-Traps.

WHITE BASS are very good at night under lights using white or chartreuse 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs and Lit'l Fishies. CRAPPIE are good at night along boat docks with brushpiles on Curb's crappie jigs, Mini Tails and minnows.

Lake Buchanan

Water clear; 80 degrees; 1016.31': LARGEMOUTH are fair very early on main lake points in 12'-20' by slow-rolling a 3/4 oz. Blue Shad Terminator Heavy-T and bumping rock piles and stumps. A watermelon pepper 4" BBB Disc Worms on split shot rigs (www.bigbitebaits.com) or a watermelon/red Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) worked slowly down inclines will produce later in the day.

STRIPERS are fair in 40' of water off lake points or over submerged islands drifting live bait or trolling Curb's striper jigs over humps. Topwater action early and late using Rat-L-Traps and Red Fins on points.
