Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 82 degrees; 1015.60'

LARGEMOUTH are fair along main lake points slow-rolling Blue Shad Heavy-T spinnerbaits www.terminatorlures.com a threadfin Berkley crankbait and dragging a 4" Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on a Carolina rig. Grape Scoundrel worms on Whacky rigs (www.cremelure.com)and shallow running crankbaits worked far back under docks are a good choice. Texas rigged watermelon Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) are working in brush piles in Maxwell and around lighthouse point.

Stripers are fair to good in 40' near the dam drifting live bait or trolling Curb's striper jigs and vertically jigging a 3" Lit'l Fishie Shad.

WHITE BASS slow on an early or late bite using Pirk Minnows 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and clear Rat-L-Tops (www.rat-l-trap.com)

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 82 degrees; 824.90':

LARGEMOUTH are fair at night around docks and points using black 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits, topwaters, crawfish Wart Hawgs and a Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) worked along the edge of rip rap. Try pitching a black/blue fleck Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) to docks at night or a watermelon "Heavy" or Texas rigged watermelon/pepper 4" BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) to laydowns and docks with 6'-10' under them during the day.

STRIPERS fair in the shoals below Inks Dam very early on live perch,Rat-L-Traps and Lit'l Fishie Shads.

WHITE BASS good at night on 1/32 oz. Curb's Crappie Jigs and 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 83 degrees; 908.50':

LARGEMOUTH are good at daylight and dusk in 5'-8' of water on Tiny-T buzzbaits(www.terminatorlures.com , small poppers and Whacky rigged Scoundrel worms or 4" chartreuse/pepper Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) worked in 12'-20'. Crankbaits like a threadfin or shad pattern Berkley that will get down to 12+' will produce on rip rap at the dam until midmorning.

SMALLMOUTH are fair in 10'-20' of water on pumpkin or watermelon Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on split shot rigs, 3" Super Tubes and 4" Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) STRIPERS are slow at night on live perch in 60 feet of water and jigging blue or silver 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows.

WHITE BASS are slow with a very early morning bite on clear Rat-L-Tops, Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), Pirk Minnows and 3" white BBB grubs.
