Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 84 degrees; 908.38':

LARGEMOUTH are good to 6 lbs. at daylight and dusk in 3'-6'of water on Pop R's or Yellow Magic topwaters, silver 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and later using watermelon 4" Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com)on split shot rigs in 10'-20' of water along bluffs. Major secondary creek points are producing some good fish using a pumpkin/char. 4" Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on Carolina rigs.

SMALLMOUTH are fair in 8'-20' of water along deep points and bluffs on Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on split shot rigs, 3" Super Tubes and 3" smoke BBB grubs on jig heads.

STRIPERS are fair at night, (slow during the day) on live perch and goldfish in 50' of water over humps and along bluffs. Vertically jigging a Pirk Minnow, 3" Lit'l Fishie Shad and casting a 1/2 oz. Rat-L-Trap to surface activity is sometimes productive.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 84 degrees; 824.80':

LARGEMOUTH are good to 5 lbs. at night and very early around docks and points with brushpiles using black 1/4 oz. Terminator buzzbaits or black spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 2" chrome/blue Yourzi topwaters and 4" pumpkin Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) or 4" watermelon/pepper 4" BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) or watermelon Devil's Tongues on split shot rigs worked along the edge of rip rap in 5'-8' of water.

STRIPERS fair in the shoals below Inks Dam very early on live perch, Rat-L-Traps and Lit'l Fishie Shads.

WHITE BASS good at night on 1/32 oz. Curb's Crappie Jigs and 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies.

CRAPPIE are fair to good at night on 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies and 1/32 oz. white Curb's Crappie Jigs

LARGEMOUTH are fair very early in 4'-8' feet along points on Chug Bugs, white/char. 1/8 oz. Terminator Tiny-T buzzbaits www.terminatorlures.com) and Whacky rigged Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com). A watermelon/char. Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on Carolina rigs and 4" BBB watermelon Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) will account for bass along mainlake points at Black Rock, Mason and Maxwell Slough.

Stripers are fair to good in 28'-40' from Flag Island to the dam drifting live bait or trolling Curb's striper jigs and vertically jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows. Topwater activity is limited in time so have a Rat-L-Trap or Red Fin rigged and ready.

WHITE BASS fair trolling Shad Raps on lead line and casting 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads or Tiny Traps.
