Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; Temp. N/A; 933':
The lake remains closed. The constant release of water at the rate of more than 5,000 cfs 24/7 is steadily dropping the lake toward 920' msl, the level at which the county judge has promised to reopen this lake. The Corps. of Engineers is predicting that magic number can
be reached by or before Labor Day if the release rate can be maintained.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 85 degrees; 1017.60':
Largemouth are fair to 5 lbs. in 12'-25' feet Carolina rigging a 5" watermelon Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com)watermelon/red Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on drop shot rigs and split shot rigged watermelon 4" Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) along ledges. Skipping a whacky rigged grape Scoundrel worms under and along boat docks will produce early.
Stripers are fair to good very early on the surface over 40'-50' of water on Rat-L-Traps
(www.rat-l-trap.com) and 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows. Later, trolling Curb's bucktail jigs or drifting live bait will produce over rock piles.
White Bass are fair early in 20' on lake points vertically jigging 1/4 Pirk Minnows, 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear; 85 degrees; 824.68':
Largemouth are fair to good at night along docks on black 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com). The first hour of daylight, topwaters like a Berkley popper (www.purefishing.com) watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) on Whacky rigs and 4" pumpkin/chart.claw Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) are taking fish on 6'-14' points from daylight until mid-morning.
Stripers are fair very early in surface action near the dam on Rat-L-Traps, Pirk Minnows and Red Fins.
White Bass are good at night and first light on Lit'l Fishies, 1/8 oz. Spin Traps(www.rat-l-trap.com) and Curb's crappie jigs.
Crappie are fair over brushpiles in 14'-20' on chartreuse 1/16 oz.Curb's crappie jigs.
