Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 86 degrees; 1017.30':
Largemouth are fair at daylight over rock piles and along ledges in 3'-8' using 1/4 oz. white Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com)and a Whacky rigged grape Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com). After 8:00 am move to deeper structure and switch to a Carolina rigged 4" watermelon Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com), Texas rigged 4" green pumpkin Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com) or threadfin
Berkley (www.purefishing.com) crankbaits worked along deep points.
Stripers are fair to good on the surface over 50' of water very early using chrome Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows and 3" Lit'l
Fishie Shads. Trolling 1/2 oz. Curb's striper jigs and drifting live bait will also
produce.
White Bass are fair on main lake points on 1/8 oz. Spin Traps 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows and Lit'l Fishies.

"NEWS RELEASE"
Canyon Lake was "opened" to the public effective August 28, 2002 with severe restrictions.
Lake access will be limited to only those watercraft already moored on the lake in authorized areas. All watercraft on Canyon Lake must remain 500’ from the shoreline due to hazardous underwater debris.
Please do not trailer your boat or water recreational vehicles to Canyon Lake this Labor Day weekend or until further notice. No watercraft will be permitted to launch.
All public boat ramps are closed, including the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers park areas. All public boat ramps will remain closed due to damage and unsafe
conditions and inability to launch watercraft in safe manner. Parking at all public boat ramps is not available due to high water.
The Lower Guadalupe River, from Canyon Dam to New Braunfels, remains closed due to unsafe conditions and underwater hazards and debris.
The Upper Guadalupe River, above Canyon Dam, continues to be open for recreational purposes, but strictly for tubing, rafting and canoeing.
The Comal County Sheriff’s Office, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Texas Parks and Wildlife will be patrolling the lake waterway. The Comal County Sheriff’s Office will also be patrolling the Lower Guadalupe River.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear; 87 degrees; 824.90':
Black Bass fair very early in 2'-5' of water near grass on breaklines on 1/8 oz. white Tiny-T buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 4" watermelon Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com). Later, try whacky rigged Ice Tea Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) along the shady side of docks and 4" watermelon Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on Carolina rigs on 12'-15' points. Humps along the main channel are holding fish where Rebel and Bomber crankbaits are good.
White Bass are good at night in 3'-8' on Lit'l Fishies and 1/16 oz. Curb's crappie jigs.
Crappie are fair at night and daylight over brushpiles in 14' on chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.
