Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 85 degrees; 1017'.

LARGEMOUTH are fair early on lake points in 5'-12' on 1/4 oz. blue shad Terminator spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com), watermelon Snap Back jerkbaits and Wart Hawg crankbaits. Mid-morning, switch to watermelon 4" Disc Worms and 4" watermelon/red Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com)on Carolina rigs. 4" green pumpkin or watermelon/pepper Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com) on drop or split shot rigs is productive along bluff ledges in 20'.

Stripers are fair to good at daylight of lake points in 40'-60' using Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-L-trap.com) and jigging Pirk Minnows. Later trolling 1/ 2 oz. Curb's striper jigs or drifting live bait is worth a try.

White Bass are slow but worth a try on lake points jigging Pirk Minnows and 2" Lit'l Fishe Shads.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 85 degrees; 924.12'

The lake was officially re-opened September 6 th. Most county ramps will be open and useable. Fishing information will resume the week September 15th.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear; 85 degrees; 824.87':

LARGEMOUTH are fair in 4'-12' of water using white Snap Back plastic jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) 4" watermelon/red SlidingWeight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com), Whacky rigged Ice Tea Scoundrel worms and 1/8 oz. white Tiny-T spinnerbaits. Pitching a Texas rigged 4" green pumpkin Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits) or watermelon 4" Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com)around boat docks will produce.

White Bass are good at night on Lit'l Fishies and 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs.

Crappie are fair at daylight over brushpiles in 14'-16' on chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.

CHOKE CANYON: Water stained; 88 degrees; 250.51':

LARGEMOUTH are generally slow to only fair because of soured shallow water over flooded vegetation. Try Carolina rigging a watermelon Snap Back plastic jerkbait (www.terminatorlures.com) or 4" watermelon Sliding Weigh Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) in 14'-25' . Around Mason point a few fish are taking 1/4-1/2 oz. white chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits and Super Pop R's right at daylight.

WHITE BASS are fair near the dam vertically jigging a 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnow and casting a 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads (www.cremelure.com) to schoolies.
