Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 79 degrees; 1017.30':

LARGEMOUTH are fair to good until midmorning in 5'-10' on white 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), shallow running crankbaits like a Frenzy or Rebel Wee R. Then, switch to plastics and start pitching a pkn/wtrmel. 4" Super Tube Heavy, pumpkin/chartreuse 4" Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com) or Ice Tea Scoundrel worm on a Whacky rig (www.cremelure.com) into buckbrush and along laydowns near grass.

STRIPERS are good early and late on the surface casting chrome Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com), white 4" BBB plastic Shads and threadfin Berkley topwater walkers (www.purefishing,com). Drifting live bait and trolling Curb's striper jigs in 35' is producing during the day. CANYON LAKE: Water clear to murky; 79 degrees; 910':

LARGEMOUTH are good to 4 lbs. in 5'-9' along submerged buckbrush on shallow running Rebel crankbaits, blue shad 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and small topwater poppers. During the day, try dragging a 4" pumpkin/green or chartreuse/pepper Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com) or cranking a parrot colored Fat Free Shad across boulders in 8'-12' .

SMALLMOUTH are good to 2 lbs. working split shot rigged pumpkin Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) and 3" pumpkin/green BBB grubs down ledges into 24' of water.

STRIPERS are fair trolling Curb's striper jigs and drifting live perch over humps along creek channels in 50'-70'.

WHITE BASS are fair vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and 3" Lit'l Fishie Shads on sloping points. LARGEMOUTH are fair along boat docks in 6'-12' of water on Whacky rigged watermelon Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com), white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and Wart Hog crankbaits.

WHITE BASS are best at night on 1-1/2" Lit'l Fishies and Curb's crappie jigs.

CRAPPIE are fair over brushpiles in 14' on minnows and Curb's crappie jigs.
