Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water stained to murky; 78 degrees; 909':

Lot's of shad running the initial breaklines just outside of flooded buckbrush...

Largemouth are good along main lake points in 5'-8' on shallow to medium running Rebel crankbaits and 1/4 oz. white Terminator spinnerbaits www.terminatorlures.com Red shad 4" Disc Worms and Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) pitched tight to standing timber in 8'-15' will also produce.

Smallmouth are good to 2 lbs. in 8'-20' using watermelon/red Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on split shot rigs and rootbeer/green flake 3" BBB (www.bigbitebaits.com) grubs on 1/8 oz. jigheads.

Stripers are slow but showing signs of activity over 70' of water on live perch and vertically jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows.

White Bass are fair on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and Pirk Minnows on lake points.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 78 degrees; 1017.30':

Largemouth are good in 3'-8' on white 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), medium running crankbaits,watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) and 4" red shad Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com). Try dragging a Carolina rigged watermelon/red 4" Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) across deep points and ledges.

Stripers are good to 28' over 30' of water from Flag Island to the dam drifting live bait and trolling Curb's striper jigs. Topwater action on Silver Shiner Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com) and Berkley Topwater Walkers.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear, 79 degrees, 824.94':

Largemouth are fair along boat docks, weedbeds and watermelon Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) Rebel Deep Wee R's and No. 3 Terminator In-Line spinners (www.terminatorlures.com).

White Bass are fair on 2 inch Lit'l Fishie Shads, 3" BBB white grubs (www.bigbitebaits.com) and Tiny Traps in 12'-20'.

Crappie are fair to good over brushpiles in 14 feet using chartreuse 1/32 oz. Curb's crappie jigs, minnows and Lit'l Fishies.
