Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 74 degrees; 1017.40':
LARGEMOUTH are fair over brushpiles and stump rows in 8'-15' using a red shad and watermelon/red 4" BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com), watermelon Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on Carolina rigs. Try Texas rigged watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelures.com) along deeper rock ledges.
STRIPERS are good from Flag Island to the Dam drifting live bait,trolling Curb's striper jigs and vertically jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows. Some topwater action early and late on 1/2 oz. chrome Rat-L-Traps
(www.rat-L-trap.com) and Berkley topwater walkers.
WHITE BASS are good over shallow mainlake flats in 5'-12' vertically jigging 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and 1/4 oz. silver Pirk Minnows.
CRAPPIE are fair on minnows.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 75 degrees; 910.50':
CANYON LAKE REMAINS THE BEST BASS LAKE IN THE HILL COUNTRY.
LARGEMOUTH are good on points in 8'-14'using watermelon/pepper 4" Disc Worms www.bigbitebaits.com), pumpkin/chartreuse 4" Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com). Early morning the active fish will go for a 1/4 oz. white Terminator spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com) or shallow running Rebel or Bomber A crankbait worked down submerged rock piles.
Pitching a red shad or blue flake Scoundrel worm to standing cedars on mainlake points is producing the better largemouth.
SMALLMOUTH are very good over shallow humps and bluff ledges in 8'-20' on Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) and 3" rootbeer BBB grubs on 1/8 oz. jigheads rigged on 6 or 8 lb. test line.

LARGEMOUTH are good along boat docks on Whacky rigged watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com), 1/8 oz. Tiny-T spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com) and shallow running Rebel or Wart Hawg crankbaits. Working a pumpkin/chartreuse Sliding Weight Craw Fish
(www.slidingweight.com) either Texas or Carolina rigged along rip rap on creek points 10'-16' is productive.
WHITE BASS are good at night on 1 1/2" Lit'l Fishies and white Curb's crappie jigs.
CRAPPIE are fair in 14' on chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.
