Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water murky; 70 degrees; 911':

Largemouth are good in tight to standing timber in 6'-12' on 4" Red Shad Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com), black/blue tail 6" worms or a 4" watermelon/pumpkin Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com). The early morning bite can be good using white or red flake Senkos and Terminator Snap-Back Creature Lures.

Smallmouth are very good to 2.5 lbs. along bluffs in 6'-15' of water using a 3/16 oz.pumpkin Tiny-T jig (www.terminatorlures.com) with a Devil's Tongue trailer,a 3" smoke/red Super Tube (www.cremelure.com) or rootbeer/green flake BBB grubs.

Stripers are very slow, suspended over humps in 50' off points from mid-lake to the dam.

White Bass are fair, vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and chrome/blue Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) along 30' lake points.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water stained; 71 degrees; 1017.38':

Largemouth are fair to good on main lake points and along bluffs in 5-12 feet using 1/4 oz. chartreuse Terminator buzzbaits (www.terminatorlures)Berkley or Rebel poppers early and all day under cloudcover. Texas rigged 4" or 6" watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com), 4" red shad Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) along and down ledges will produce when the surface action subsides.

Stripers are only fair with mainly 18'-20" fish being taken from Garrett Island to the dam drifting live bait, trolling 1/2 oz. Curb's striper jigs and jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows. Minimal topwater action using a 1/2 oz. chrome Rat-L-Trap (www.rat-l-trap.com)

White Bass are good over flats on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and Spin Traps.

LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 71 degrees; 824.92':

Largemouth are good early on watermelon Snap-Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 1/4 oz. Gold Shiner Terminator spinnerbaits and later using 3" watermelon Super Tubes (www.cremelure.com), 4" watermelon BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) and 4" pumpkin Senkos or 4" pumpkin Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) on Carolina rigs worked down points.

White Bass are fair on silver Terminator Snagless In-Line spinners spinners, white 3" white BBB grubs and 1/8 oz. chrome Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com)

Crappie are slow over brushpiles in 14'-20' on minnows , red/white crappie Tube Jigs and chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs.
