Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water stained; 67 degrees; 1017.93' :
Largemouth are fair to 6.5 lbs. along bluffs and creek ledges with laydowns or brushpiles 3'-10' feet of water using 4" or 6" Texas rigged black/blue
Scoundrel worms, watermelon Snap-Back Creature Baits (www.terminatorlures)and Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) worked over stump flats in 2'-6'early and all day under cloudcover. Texas rigged 4" or 6" watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com), 4" watermelon Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) will produce in brushpiles and laydowns.
Stripers are fair to good in 24'-40' from Flag Island to Lighthouse Point drifting live bait, vertically jigging 1/2 oz. Pirk Minnows and trolling 1/2 oz.
Curb's striper jigs.
White Bass are good over flats on 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads, 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and Spin Traps.

CANYON LAKE: Water murky; 67 degrees; 913' (normal pool is 912'):
Largemouth are good along flooded buckbrush and standing timber in 4'-15' using watermelon Snap-Back jerkbaits, 4" or 6" inch black/blue Scoundrel worms and a black/blue flake 4 inch Super Tube Heavy.
Smallmouth are fair to good in 8'-20' on 3" crawfish Super Tubes, Smokin' Green Devil's Tongues and rootbeer Yamamoto grubs worked down ledges. 4" black/blue Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) on split shot rigs will produce on sloping points.
Stripers are slow, drifting live bait and trolling Curb's striper jigs through schools suspended over humps at channel intersections in 50' off points from
mid-lake to the dam.
White Bass are fair, vertically jigging 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows and 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and chrome/blue Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) along 30' lake points.

Largemouth are good on creek points and brushpiles along chanel breaklines using watermelon Snap-Back jerkbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), 1/4 oz. Gold Shiner Terminator spinnerbaits and Silver Shiner Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com). Later a 3" watermelon Super Tubes (www.cremelure.com), 4" watermelon BBB Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) worked along
docks and rip rap will produce.
White Bass are fair trolling a silver Terminator Snagless In-Line spinners spinners, white 3" white BBB grubs and 1/8 oz. chrome Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com)
Crappie are slow over brushpiles in 14'-20' on minnows , red/white crappie Tube Jigs and chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs.
