Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LBJ Bass are schooling
LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 59 degrees; 824.95':
Largemouth are fair over rockpiles along points in 5'-15' using black/blue claw Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com), 3/16 oz. watermelon
Terminator Finesse jigs (www.terminatorlures.com) with a pork trailer and motor oil Scoundrel worms. Colder water temperature necessitate slowing down and downsizing your lure selection. Our clients are much more successful when they use a 4" Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com). Texas rigged or on a split shot rig a Disc Worm always produces more bites for us.

Canyon Lake is Best in So.-Central Texas
CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 58 degrees; 909'.
Largemouth are good in the 4-8 lb. class with some double digit fish being taken in feeder creeks and deep pockets using Yamamoto Hula Grubs, black/blue
Snap-Back Creature baits (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and Texas rigged blue/fleck Scoundrel worms (www.terminatorlures.com) along 4'-8' breaklines
with brush and stumps. Clarity sometimes dictates the necessity to downsize your lure selection and Canyon is one lake that we prefer to use 4" Disc Worms
(www.bigbitebaits.com) when the fish shy away from larger baits. Another good tactic when bass are finicky is to split shot or drop shot a Devil's Tongue
(www.cremelure.com) along rocky secondary points and bluffs
Smallmouth are very good along to 2.5 lbs. on 3" BBB rootbeer grubs (www.bigbitebaits.com), 3" smoke Super Tubes and 4" Ice Tea Scoundrels. Work the steep sides and points and bluff banks in 8'-20' with lures rigged on 1/8 oz. jigheads, spinning gear with 6-8 lb. test line on a fast action rod like the SP2715 by New England Rod Co. Be sure to use a drop of Pros~Soft Bait Glue to secure the lure in place.
Stripers are slow on perch in 60' of water.
