Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 50 degrees; 1018.79':

Black Bass are good in 5'-12' feet along creek channels slow-rolling a 3/4 oz. Blue Shad Heavy-T spinnerbait (www.terminatorlures.com), chrome/blue 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and pitching watermelon/pepper 4" Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com) to stumps and boat docks. Secure plastics to hooks and jigs with one drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue to prevent slipping and tearing. Also repairs plastics instantly on the water.

Stripers are good under birds from Garrett to Shaw Island using 1 oz. Rat-L-Traps, Red Fins and trolling 1/2 oz. Curb's striper jigs.

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 51 degrees; 911.70':

Largemouth are good to along channel drop offs on 3/16 oz. black/blue Terminator Finesse Jigs, rootbeer Hula Grubs (www.canyonlakefishing.com)and 4" pumpkin/char. Disc Worms (www.bigbitebaits.com). Upriver, working a 5" wtrmelon Creature Bait (www.terminatorlures.com) or a 6" blue flake power worm along the bluffs and steeper breaklines will produce. We always use drop of Pro's Soft bait Glue to secure plastics to hooks and jig heads.

Smallmouth are good in 12'-20' along bluff points and rock piles using a brown/black Curb's hair jig, SlidingWeight Finesse Craw Fish and pumpkin Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on drop shot or split shot rigs.

Stripers are fair trolling chartreuse Curb's Striper jigs in 70'. LAKE LBJ: Water stained; 50 degrees; 824.90':

Largemouth are fair in 12'-28' on black/blue Terminator Creature Baits (www.terminatorlures.com) on Carolina rigs, watermelon Scoundrel worms on whacky rigs (www.cremelure.com) and watermelon Curb's jigs and pork along docks. A SlidingWeight FinesseCraw (www.slidingweight.com)and a 4" Pro Blue Disc Worm (www.bigbitebaits.com) will produce on points and rock piles.

White Bass are good under birds between Deer Haven and the Apple Orchard on 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and Tiny Traps.
