Report for Canyon Lake & Lake LBJ, Texas

Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water very clear; 911.65'; 54 degrees:

Largemouth are good upriver on Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com), whacky rigged watermelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) and watermelon 4" Disc Worms to stumps and laydowns along 8'-14' breaklines. The the main lake, male bass are moving up and down gravel points and flats as the shallow water warms. Crawfish colored 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com) and green pumpkin or watermelon Snap Back Lizards (www.terminatorlures.com) worked in 2'-12' of water are good choices here.

Smallmouth to 3 lb. are good along bluff ledges on smoke/silver flake Sliding Weight Finesse Crawfish (www.slidingweight.com), 3" chartreuse Super Tubes (www.cremelure.com) and Devil's Tongues on drop shot rigs in 8'-20' of water. Look for rockpiles on flats in 6'-10' and work a 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbait with bright chartreuse skirt and blades or a jerkbait on 6 to 10 lb. line across and around the rocks.

Stripers are good over creek and mainlake humps in 30'-40' on 1/2 oz. Curb's Striper jigs, 1 oz. blue Pirk Minnows and 3" Lit'l Fishie Shads.

White Bass very good in 15'-30' on 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and vertically jigging Pirk Minnows.

Crappie good in 15'-25' tight to standing timber using white 1/16 oz.crappie jigs, 1/32 oz. blue/white Tube Jigs and minnows.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear; 53 degrees; 824.93':

Largemouth are good on rip rap and brushpiles in 10 feet of water using a Texas Red Terminator spinnerbaits (www.terminatorlures.com), watermelon/red Devil's Tongues (www.cremelure.com) on split shot rigs and 4" watermelon BBB Curl Tails. Some of our client's biggest bass of the entire year are being taken by slowly working a Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish down sandy creek points in 5'-14' of water.

White Bass are good at the mouth of creeks and under birds around the power plant on 1/4 oz.Pirk Minnows, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads and 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps.

Crappie are fair over brushpiles in 18' using pink/white Tube Jigs 1/16 th oz. chartreuse Curb's crappie jigs and minnows. Some of the very best crappie fishing in central Texas is on LBJ from late March through April. Book your trips early. LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 53 degrees; 1018.89' :

Black Bass are fair 10'-14' in main creek channels using pumpkin Terminator Finesse Jig (www.terminatorlures.com)with Uncle Josh trailers (www.unclejosh.com), 4" watermelon Disc Worms and watermelon/red Sliding Weight Finesse Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com).

Stripers are fair to good drifting live, trolling 1/2 oz. Curb's striper jigs in 18'-28' of water under birds around The Willows.

White Bass are fair in 20' on mainlake flats and in creeks on 1/4 oz. Pirk Minnows, 2" Lit'l Fishie Shads (www.cremelure.com) and Tiny Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com). FOR LODGING INFO.
