Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 66 degrees; 910.50' :

Largemouth are very good to 7 lbs. over flats in creeks and points in 2'-8' on Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com) and pumpkin Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com) . Lots of fat Guadalupe Bass to 2 lbs. being caught on Senkos(www.canyonlakefishing.com) and Tiny Traps along sloping rock/gravel creek points.

Smallmouth are good over rockpiles in 6'-15' using crawfish 3" Super Tubes, chartreuse 1/8 oz. Tiny-T spinnerbaits and pumpkin Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com).

Stripers are fair on live perch & wht/char. Hyper Striper and/or Curb's striper jigs (www.canyonlakefishing.com) with matching plastic trailers.

White Bass are very good upriver on Lit'l Fishies, Berkley Frenzy and minnows.

Crappie are fair over brushpiles and tight to standing timber on 1/16 oz. Tube Jigs, Curb's crappie jigs (www.canyonlakefishing.com)and live minnows.

LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 63 degrees; 1019.31' :

Largemouth are good on long tapering creek points in 5'-10' C-rigged Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), wtrmelon/red Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com.) & crawfish/char. belly Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps). Pitching 4" crawfish Super Tubes at laydowns in 3'-6' and working wtrmelon/red Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) along creek ledges is taking some of the larger females staging for the spawn.

Stripers are good around The Willows on live bait and trolling and jigging white Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com) with their plastic trailers.

White Bass are good in most creeks on chrome 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and white plastic grubs.

Crappie are only fair on Curb's crappie jigs and minnows over brushpiles in 8'-12'.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear; 64 degrees; 824.89' :

Black Bass are good along mainlake points in 4'-8' using 1/4 oz. crawfish Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-traps.com), green pumpkin Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com) and 4" or 6" pump/grn Scoundrel worms on Whacky rigs. Working boat docks, laydowns and stump lines with a crawfish 4" Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) and/or a wtr/red Sliding Weight crawfish (www.slidingweight.com) are taking some of the biggest fish our clients have been catching.

Stripers are good on Hyper Striper jigs (www.kgenterprise.com),Rat-L-Traps and live bait.

White Bass are good along channel breaklines and over sand bars on 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, snagless Terminator In-Line spinners and trolling # 5 Shad Raps.

Crappie are very good in 1'-3' of water on 1/32 oz. red/white Solid Tubes, white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows.

CHOKE CANYON RES.: Water clear; full pool; 68 degrees

LARGEMOUTH: The bite has been typical of Florida strain bass: very good one day, shut off the next because of a weather change or for some other unknown reason.

During stable periods, bass are good in 3'-8' in small gravel pockets off of creeks using Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), wht/blue/char. 1/4 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits and pitching 4" crawfish Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com)
