Report for Canyon Lake & Lake LBJ, Texas

Canyon Lake - Freshwater Fishing Report

CANYON LAKE: Water clear; 68 degrees; 910.50' :

Largemouth are very good over flats in creeks and points in 2'-5' using Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), chameleon Scoundrel worms on Whacky rigs (www.cremelure.com). Up river, largemouth to 7 lbs. are good in 2'-6' on pumpk/green Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com), white/char. 3/8 oz.white/chartreuse Terminator spinnerbaits and pitching a 4" Super Tube Heavy.

Smallmouth are good over rockpiles and on bluff ledges in 8'-15' using crawfish 3" Super Tubes, wtrmelon/red Sliding Weight Craw Fish (www.slidingweight.com) and pumpkin or watermelon Terminator Finesse Jigs with matching #23 Uncle Josh pork (www.unclejosh.com) trailers.

Stripers are good trolling Hyper Striper (www.kgenterprise.com) jigs with plastic trailers and drifting live bait.

White Bass are still good upriver on Lit'l Fishies, Berkley Frenzy and Shad Raps but the "run" is slowing. Fish will begin to move back to the lake out of the river and creeks where a 2" Lit'l Fishie Shad, 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and #3 Terminator In-Line spinner are most productive on long sloping flats at channel turns. Crappie are fair over brushpiles and tight to standing timber on 1/16 oz. Tube Jigs, Curb's crappie jigs and live minnows.

LAKE LBJ: Water clear; 66 degrees; 824.50' :

Black Bass are good in 3'-6' on 1/4 oz. crawfish Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com), green pumpkin or watermelon Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorluers.com) and 6" Whacky rigged Ice Tea Scoundrel worms (www.cremelure.com). Pumpkin/grn.& blue Senkos (www.canyonlakefishing.com) and bubble gum Snap Back jerkbaits are also very good.

Stripers are good below Inks Dam on chartreuse Hyper Striper jigs,Red Fins and drifting live shad.

White Bass are very good from 8'-15' deep along channel breaklines on 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps, snagless Terminator In-Line spinners and trolling #5 Shad Raps.

Crappie are very good in 1-3 feet on 1/32 oz. chartreuse Solid Tubes, 1/16 oz. white Curb's crappie jigs and minnows. LAKE BUCHANAN: Water clear; 65 degrees; 1019.20' :

Largemouth are very good in 2'-4' of water in back of creeks on Snap Back lizards (www.terminatorlures.com), 1/4 oz. crawfish Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) and pitching a 4" crawfish Super Tube Heavy (www.cremelure.com) or 3/16 oz. watermelon Terminator Finesse with #23 Uncle Josh (www.unclejosh.com) trailer to stumps on flats at the back of docks.

Stripers are good to 15 pounds around Garrett Island using white/char. Hyper Striper (www.kgenterprise.com) jigs and trolling #7 Shad Raps on lead-line at 20'.

White Bass are very good in all creeks, and flats at the mouth of the river on chrome 1/8 oz. Tiny Traps and Pirk Minnows.

CHOKE CANYON RES.: Water clear; full; 68 degrees

LARGEMOUTH are good to 10 lbs. in Possum, 4-Fingers, Calliham and along South Shore using just about anything you prefer; e.g., white/char. 3/8 oz. Terminator spinnerbaits with double willow, Texas or Carolina rigged Snap Back lizards/plastic jerkbaits, Rat-L-Traps and thin profile pro-blade topwaters. Fish are 2'-6' deep in pockets and rocky points around buckbrush.
